Regarding Henry IV...
|
Chickspeare, Charlotte's own all female Shakespearean troupe, will present Henry IV, May 11 - 20, 2000, at Johnson Beer Co., 1109 Central Avenue (Central and Hawthorne). Sip a cold brew as you enjoy this classic tale of family feuds, political intrigue, and dirty dealings. Joanna Gerdy, a Chickspeare veteran and winner of a 1999 Creative Loafing Theatre Award for her work with Chickspeare, will direct. This show is sponsored by Johnson Beer Co. and Creative Loafing.
Chickspeare's Henry IV is a compelling story of a king who kills for his crown, only to see his political allies turn against him in his moment of triumph. Prince Hal is desperate for a father's love, but hangs out drinking all night in the bar with Falstaff and his gang of thieves. How far will Hal go to win Henry IV's approval? And who will triumph when the scheming Prince Hal and the hot-blooded Hotspur meet on the battlefield?
Nicia Feldman, Robin Taylor and Sheila Snow (all Creative Loafing Theatre Award nominees) lead an ensemble cast of 13 players; the cast also includes Amy Arpan, Kristen Yarborough, and Anne Lambert. A contemporary staging, cabaret-style seating and delicious beers on tap from Johnson's master brewers all promise an evening of drama and fun for theater goers.
